The Caregiver Coalition of the Midlands will hold their annual conference “Creating Harmony In Caregiving” on Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at Riverbanks Zoo at 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Jolene Brackey, Nationally known author of Creating Moments of Joy. Jolene will help us “catch a vision” for caring for our seniors. A vision that will look beyond the challenges of a disease and help us focus on creating moments of joy. Agape Senior Partners with Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission hosted the dementia education series. We covered important educational topics to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and other like dementias. Sessions included: “Understanding Dementia”, “Creating Quality Activities for Dementia Loved Ones”, “Financial Resources for Dementia Care”, “The Reality of the 7 Stages of Decline” and we finished on Tuesday, August 26th with Daniel Bundrick, RPh, VP of Pharmacy Services with Agape Pharmacy discussing “Understanding the Role of Medication” and “How to be a Healthy Caregiver”. On August 19th we discussed “Understanding the Role of Medication” presented by Daniel Bundrick, RPh, VP of Pharmacy Services with Agape Pharmacy. Agape Senior Partnered with Bethlehem Lutheran Church to Present Community Dementia Education

On July 15th, 2014, Agape Senior presented “Understanding Dementia” at Bethlehem Lutheran Church located in Leesville. The presentation reviewed the signs and symptoms of dementia and looks at how to better care for someone with Alzheimer’s or a like dementia. We shared stories and supplied resources to educate and support individuals caring for a loved one with dementia.
